Robert Rohlich Defeats 1,526-Entry Field for Eureka Rozvadov Main Event Glory

Poker News

Robert Rohlich clinched victory in the highly contested 2024 Eureka Rozvadov €1,100 Main Event, besting a field of 1,526 contenders at King’s Resort. His commanding performance on the final table earned him the title and a substantial first-place prize of €243,500, marking the largest payout in Eureka Poker Tour Rozvadov history.

Rohlich joins the ranks of esteemed Czech champions, following in the footsteps of Petr Svoboda, who secured victory in the Eureka Rozvadov 2017 edition. Rohlich navigated through the final table effortlessly, wrapping up the final table in less than three and a half hours to etch his name into poker history and seize the lion’s share of the €1,526,000 prize pool.

Prior to the victory, Rohlich just had three recorded tournament cashes, with the most significant payout prior to his triumph being a humble $3,779.

Final Table Action

As the final nine players settled into their seats at the feature table, Rohlich commanded a staggering one-third of all chips in play, firmly establishing himself as the chip leader.

With a comfortable chip lead, Rohlich could afford to observe the action unfold around him as a couple of short stacks made their exit. Stefan Fink‘s jack-ten collided with Aram Ali’s kings, while Ali and Mick Heder simultaneously chipped away at “MC”‘s stack, both holding ace-king to overpower his tens.

Ran Koller‘s journey ended in seventh place after he lost a pivotal flip against “Matei,” who would soon follow suit to the rail, falling victim to Vitalii Shcherba’s king-seven suited with queen-jack suited.

As the field narrowed to five players, Rohlich continued to widen the gap between himself and his opponents. He sent Heder packing in fifth place, triumphing with ace-nine over queen-nine in a blind-versus-blind confrontation.

In a pivotal hand, Rohlich secured a backdoor straight after Ankit Ahuja opted to check back the bottom set post-flop. The runout spelt disaster for Ahuja, relinquishing a significant portion of his stack in the process. Ahuja’s demise was sealed shortly thereafter, as he faced off against Rohlich’s open-ended straight draw with a middle pair, only to watch Rohlich surge ahead on the turn and complete his straight on the river.

Back in October, Ahuja tasted success in Eureka Main Event that played out at EPT Cyprus. The former tech consultant won his biggest score of $362,365 but had to settle for a respectable €77,800 payout this time around.

With an insurmountable lead, Rohlich effectively had the title within his grasp. Given Shcherba and Ali’s meagre chip stacks, negotiations for a deal were unnecessary.

Rohlich swiftly dispatched Shcherba from the competition before clinching victory over Ali, winning the final three blinds with a modest eight-three against pocket fives. After 92 intense hands at the final table, Rohlich proudly raised the coveted trophy, marking the pinnacle of his poker career.
