Scott Margereson Wins €2,700 EPT Barcelona 2nd Chance

The United Kingdom’s Scott Margereson has become the latest poker player to break through $5 million in live tournament earnings after his victory in the €2,700 EPT Second Chance at the 2026 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona festival.

Margereson, known as “Aggro Santos” in online poker circles, received €361,060 of the €2,046,700 prize pool after topping an 844-strong field. The impressive haul represents Margereson’s third-largest live score, trailing only the $696,740 he collected after winning the $3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in 2018 and the €423,700 awarded to him for his 2025 PokerStars Open Malta triumph.

€2,700 EPT Second Chance Final Table Results

The €2,700 EPT Second Chance paid out the top 127 finishers. Alex Keating, Simon Lofberg, Martins Adeniya, Dominik Panka, Thomas Eychenne, Juha Helppi, Tom Fuchs, and Christian Harder were among those who navigated into the money places.

Nine players sat down at the final table, and most gained more elbow room when Maksim Panyak found himself void of chips. His ninth-place finish added €33,380 to his bankroll.

Maciej Komorowski and Fabio Peluso were eliminated to leave the final table officially short-handed. After Cristinel Dumitru and Canada’s Sanjaya Wadhwani were sent packing, the four surviving players guaranteed a paycheck of at least €123,940.

Frenchman Julien Thome was the player who collected that sum after his impressive performance ended in a fourth-place finish. Thome had $124,256 in live earnings before this result; he now has more than double that amount.

The final three had combined earnings of more than $13 million and featured a pair of high-profile female players, Natasha Mercier and Cherish Andrews.

Andrews was the first of that talented trio to find herself heading to the cashier’s desk. She received a €161,140 payment and is now within touching distance of having $5 million in career earnings.

Margereson and Mercier locked horns and butted heads in a one-on-one battle for the title and the trophy. It was Margereson who emerged victoriously and with €361,160 to show for his efforts. Mercier’s runner-up finish earned her €225,580.

Benny Glaser Denied 8-Game Victory

While Margereson was busy climbing to the top of the pile in the €2,700 EPT Second Chance, several other events were advancing toward their conclusions.

The €3,200 8-Game was one such tournament. Mixed game specialist, if not the mixed game GOAT, Benny Glaser, fell at the final. He lost heads-up to Sweden’s Max Herulf and had to make do with a €33,480 consolation prize; Herulf bagged €51,730.

Manuel Stojanovic won a prize similar to Margereson’s haul after leaving 78 opponents in his dust in the €15,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Unlimted Re-Entry event. Stojanovic recently claimed a $1,402,000 runner-up prize in a $100,000 PLO event at Triton Montenegro. He won another €320,474 in this Barcelona tournament after defeating Konstantinos Bouloutsos heads-up.

EPT Barcelona Main Event Continues

Day 4 of the €5,300 PokerStars EPT Barcelona Main Event continues from 12:00 p.m. local time on August 26. Only 67 of the 1,823 starters remain in the hunt for the €1,370,050 top prize and the title of champion.

Brazilian Fabricio Nociolini (2,510,000) leads the way at the restart. Joris Ruijs (2,185,000), and Sebastian Malec (1,950,000) return in the top five, while Matas Cimbolas (1,280,000), Nicolas Chouity (1,050,000), John Juanda (990,000), Romain Lewis (615,000), Brock Wilson (585,000), and the 2023 EPT Barcelona champion Simon Wiciak (415,000) remain in contention.
