Sebastian Huber Wins His Third WCOOP Title

Four years ago, Sebastian “peace&love” Huber won his first World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) title when he took down the $5.50 NLHE 7-Max PKO event. Huber won his second title two years later in the $11 H.O.R.S.E. Huber now has three WCOOP victories after coming out on top in the $75 NLHE 6-Max Turbo PKO.

Huber was one of 1,113 entrants in Event 100-M: $75 NLHE 6-Max Turbo PKO. All those entries resulted in a $75,884 prize pool, where slightly more than half was shared by the top 143 finishers, and the rest was placed on each player’s head as a progressive bounty.

As they have across most major online tournaments, Brazilians dominated the latter stages of this tournament, with 13 of the final 20 calling Brazil home. However, fifth place was the deepest any of those samba stars advanced, with “Any2vsYou” exiting in fifth place with a combined score of $2,879.

“LAFAL1O” of Malta was eliminated in fourth before the United Kingdom’s “tombk24” bowed out in third, which sent the event into its heads-up stage.

Huber and PokerStars regular “Old brock” locked horns heads-up, having both locked in $5,442 from the regular prize pool. “Old brock” fell at Huber’s hands in the one-on-one battle, and received $6,586 for their runner-up finish, which left Huber to clinch his second WCOOP title and $10,056 in prize money.

It was a profitable day for Huber, not least because of this victory. The Team PokerStars pro also finished third in Event #93-M: $215 NLHE for $7,380 and sixth in Event #92-M: $55 PLO for $1,297.

Jepser8 Continues His Incredible Form

Having recently won back-to-back $5,200 buy-in events, Johannes “Jepser8” Straver triumphed in the $10,300 NLHE PKO Thursday Thrill for his fourth WCOOP title and $167,733.

Forty-eight entries were processed, and they fought it out for the lion’s share of a $480,000 prize pool. Only the top six finishers won some of the regular prize pool money, so spare a thought for seventh-place finisher Jorge “jorginho88” Abreu, although he did collect $7,500 worth of bounties.

When Straver was heads-up against “VbV1990,” both players were guaranteed $65,858. However, the final bounty payments weighed in at six figures, so there was plenty still to play for.

When the dust settled, it was Straver who had all of the chips in play in his stack. His total reward tipped the scales at $167,733, leaving the runner-up to bolster their bankroll by $83,983.

Other WCOOP Results

Elsewhere, there was a fifth WCOOP win for Estonia’s Markku “markovitsus” Koplimaa, who took down the $109 5-Card PLO event, adding to the $530 NLHE Titans title he won earlier in the week.

Austria’s “CPUrul0r” became a six-time WCOOP champion courtesy of being the last player standing in the $1,050 edition of the NLHE Fenomeno. This latest victory came with $22,223 in prize money and was his first in a WCOOP event since midway through the 2024 series.

Benny Glaser Leads the $1,050 NLHE Thursday Thrill

Two in-play events wrap up on September 25 before the WCOOP grinder has a well-deserved rest before the numbered events resume on September 26.

Those in-play events are the $109 and $1,050 editions of the Thursday Thrill. The $109 buy-in tournament is down to 63 players from a 2,330-strong starting field, while the $1,050 sees the legendary Benny Glaser lead the final 34 back into a battle from a 289 field.
