Sterling “Magical Panda” Webley Wins WSOP Online Main Event In Ontario

Poker News

The Ontario leg of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online is nearing its close. Seven of the eight bracelet winners have been decided, including the 2023 WSOP Online Ontario Main Event champion.

Sterling “Magical Panda” Webley took down that Main Event, becoming Ontario’s WSOP Online champion for 2023.

The $1,000* buy in event attracted 642 entries. Every one of those players wanted a share of the $609,900 prize pool, but there is only one bracelet and one bracelet winner. Webley was that winner.

It wasn’t an easy ride, Webley’s final table was like a reunion of Ontarian mid-stakes regulars. Other players at the table included pros like Shahraz “Kyle Gene” Khan—who took third in the WSOP Online Ontario Colossus the previous week—and Xing “Mai_K_4_Life” He—who final tabled this year’s WSOP Event #13: $600* Pot Limit Omaha in Vegas.

Despite the tough field, Webley got the gold and his WSOP.ca account got a $111,666 boost.

Jordan “CallMeDaddee” Bowes eventually won the event, beating Kelvin “MyChoco” Jung heads up when he flopped two-pair against Jung’s AK.

Jung got it in on the turn when a third spade hit the board, but the river didn’t help him and Bowes took home the gold. Jung won $40,224 for second place, his best of five career WSOP Online cashes.

Marion won $34,367 for his first-place finish, knocking out Arash “Aries93′ Shahi in second place with an overwhelming chip lead and pocket kings.

While Marion was clearing the PLOSSUS streets with four-hole cards, Michael Farrow was clearing the COLOSSUS streets with two.

Farrow is no stranger to tournament poker with several big live cashes in Ontario, including a $184k win in the $1,100 freezeout side event at the 2019 WPT Niagara Falls festival.

Farrow ultimately beat a field of 760 entries for his $48,852 first-place share of the $285,760 COLOSSUS prize pool.

The final hand saw him get it all in pre-flop against Michael “checkm8” Bartholomew, needling his opponent to the last with barbed chat and taunting emojis right up until the chips shipped his way.
