WPT® Prime Taiwan is back with a bang, as it returns to CTP’s Asia Poker Arena in Taipei from January 2 – January 11, 2027. WPT Global is sponsoring the event, and are recognizing that bond by offering up incredible satellite paths for any players wanting to qualify online.
The satellites are to the WPT® Prime Taiwan Championship, which is the pinnacle of the series, and the tournament runs during the back end of the schedule, from September 7-11. The Main Event features a buy-in of TWD 35,000 (~ $1,100) as well as a TWD 30 million (~ $1 million) guaranteed prize pool.
Satellites are up and running now, and will remain on the site until December 27, with players able to choose from three different paths on the way to punching their Main Event ticket.
What are the Three Satellite Paths?
Players can qualify for a $1,100 Main Event ticket through three different paths, with the WPT Global client offering online satellites that start at just $0.55. Each route feeds the $110 Qualifier, which awards a $1,100 Main Event ticket to those who are successful in it.
Main path: $1.10 → $11 → $110
The main path is as simple as it gets for satellites. Make it through the field three times by successfully earning 10x your original stake, and a seat in Taipei is yours.
Second Path: $0.55 → $5.50 → $110
The second path is a smaller original buy-in, but it does mean that you need to outlast twice the number of players in the satellite to the $110 Qualifier.
Third path: $2.20 → $22 → $110
The third path starts off as the most expensive of the three, however it also means that the second step sees the highest proportion of entrants make their way to the Qualifier.
Not only do eligible online qualifiers pick up a Main Event entry, but can also unlock incredible Black Card benefits. This includes bubble protection in the championship, a brand-new iPhone reward for any top-18 Main Event finishers, as well as last longer prizes among qualifiers. These are valued at $10,000, $5,000, $2,500, for the qualifiers who make it the furthest, second furthest, and third furthest respectively in the competition.
Past WPT Prime Taiwan Championship Winners
Since its debut in 2022, four players have got their names on the most sought-after trophy in Taiwan, with Marc Inizan of France forever known as the first champion, having earned $138,939 after being the last survivor among 876 entrants.
In each of the three editions since, the Main Event has seen over 1,350 entries, and a first-placed prize of more than an unbelievable $200,000. In 2024, Jereld Sam went home with a whopping $250,231 for outlasting 1,666 players.
