The Pascua Yaqui Tribe has allowed future visitors to peer into its upcoming Casino Del Sol Vahi Taaʼam property in Arizona by teasing new information and visuals. This will be the tribe’s third casino and is a reflection of its commitment to “economic self-determination, cultural pride, and community investment.”
The Casino Celebrates Tribal Culture and the History of Arizona
In a recent release, the Pascua Yaqui confirmed that the Vahi Taa’am casino, which means Three Suns in Yoeme, is set to open on November 15 this year. With a name reflecting Pascua Yaqui culture, the property will also be “as bright as the three suns its name evokes.”
Amanda Sampson Lomayesva, interim CEO of Casino Del Sol, noted that the tribe’s third casino will create some 500 new jobs and will revitalize the heart of Tucson. Spanning 163,000 square feet, the property will feature a 26-foot copper dome that is meant to represent the sun rising over the desert.
The interior will feature vaulted domed ceilings, patterned terrazzo tile, wood accents, opulent archways, and rustic ironwork. Designed to celebrate the cultural history of the tribe and Arizona as a whole, the new property will also feature a 24,000-square-foot mural representing the Arizona desert sky. The mural will be authored by local artist Joe Pagac, further highlighting the casino’s desire to invest in its community.
The casino will also offer several dining locations and bars, allowing visitors to have a pleasant stay. A four-level garage, on the other hand, will accommodate over 1,200+ vehicles.
In terms of gaming, visitors can look forward to a 52,334-square-foot gaming area with some 924 slots (56 of which will be dedicated high limit games), seven bar-top gaming stations at the Center bar, table games, a High Limit Lounge, and a SolSports sportsbook.
Existing Casino Del Sol customers will be able to enjoy all Club Sol perks from day one.
Tribal Representatives Are Looking Forward to the Opening
Julian Hernandez, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s chairman, commented on the upcoming opening of the tribe’s third casino. He emphasized that every design, every partnership, and every hire has been made with the tribe’s culture and people in mind.
Hernandez concluded: “Casino Del Sol, Vahi Taaʼam is built on Old Pascua Community land, and it carries that meaning with it. November 15 cannot come soon enough.”
