Mark Scheinberg, Co-Founder of PokerStars, Is Selling His Yacht for $152M

It’s not uncommon for billionaires to own and sell mega yachts, and the co-founder of PokerStars, Mark Scheinberg, is no exception to this, as the 52-year-old businessman is currently selling his 242-foot boat called Synthesis for over $152 million.

Scheinberg Lists His Yacht for Sale

The Synthesis has been in Scheinberg’s possession since 2021, when he bought it from famed Dutch super-yacht assembler Amels. The vessel is equipped with a helipad, beauty salon, sauna, beach club, gym, deck Jacuzzi, and infinity pool. It can comfortably accommodate 14 guests across six luxurious cabins. Additionally, it has enough accommodations for a 19-person crew.

Interestingly, however, other casino moguls’ personal ships surpass Scheinberg’s yacht. For example, at 354 feet long, Crown Resorts tycoon James Packer’s yacht is so enormous that it falls into the unofficial “giga-yacht” category. Named “IJE” after the initials of Packer’s three children, Indigo, Jackson, and Emmanuelle, the vessel ranks among the world’s largest private yachts. Its lavish amenities include a heated swimming pool, private cinema, nightclub with elevator access, barber’s shop, and an expansive gym on the lower deck.

However, even IJE is surpassed by Landry’s, The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casinos, and Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta. Earlier this year, Fertitta took delivery of the 384-foot giga-yacht Lurssen Boardwalk, replacing his previous 252-foot mega-yacht, also named Boardwalk. As well as the obligatory infinity pool, gym, and Jacuzzi, the new vessel boasts not one, but two helipads, just to add to the already excessive vessel.

The sizes of these mega- and giga-yachts are also reflected in their prices. While Scheinberg is selling his Synthesis for $152 million, Fertitta listed his previous Boardwalk for $192 million.

How Much Money Does Scheinberg Have?

Now that we have discussed a bit about what luxury yachts billionaires own, one must wonder how they got the money to afford such dizzying price tags. In the case of Scheinberg, he co-founded PokerStars with his father, Isai Scheinberg, in 2001, growing the company into the world’s largest online poker platform. In 2014, the business was sold to Amaya Gaming for $4.9 billion and is now part of Flutter Entertainment.

Following the sale, Scheinberg turned his attention to investments in real estate and leisure. He acquired a 50% stake in Centro Canalejas, a luxury commercial, hotel, and residential development in Madrid, Spain, and also owns the One Hotel in Toronto, Canada. His net worth is estimated at around $5 billion, meaning the $152 million Synthesis is well within his financial capabilities.
