Betsson and Greek basketball team AEK BC announce naming rights partnership

Betsson Group and the Greek basketball team AEK BC have announced an update to their ongoing partnership. After two years as Main Sponsor of AEK BC, Betsson now takes on the title of team name sponsor, effectively changing the team’s name to AEK BETSSON BC.

The announcement took place at a ceremony held at The Mall Athens on October 12. During the event, the AEK BETSSON BC’s new logo was unveiled. The attendees also watched the Greek movie “1968”. The film pays tribute to AEK’s historic victory in 1968, when the team won the European Cup in Athens, beating Slavia Prague.

In addition to the film, a video with highlights of the partnership was shown, including the donation of 100,000 euros to the victims of an earthquake in Turkey, which Betsson says shows a “joint commitment to humanitarian causes.”

Makis Angelopoulos

Speaking at the event, Makis Angelopoulos, President of AEK BETSSON BC, expressed, “This partnership marks an exciting chapter in our history, combining our strengths to achieve great success together. We are deeply appreciative of the help and unwavering support we’ve consistently received from Betsson. It is through such active partnerships that we can excel in our game and continue to make history.”

Thanos Marinos

Thanos Marinos, Managing Director of Betsson Greece, said: “We are proud to continue our sponsorship of AEK BC for the third consecutive year and now be an integral part of AEK Betsson BC’s name.

I am particularly glad that Betsson is investing in sporting initiatives within Greece, as this enables us to give back to the communities where we operate and make a positive impact. Through sports, everyone benefits. It fosters community unity, encourages a healthy and active lifestyle, and offers our youth valuable opportunities for growth and development.”

Ronni Hartvig

Ronni Hartvig, Chief Commercial Officer at Betsson Group, emphasized: “At Betsson, we are committed to providing an excellent gaming experience. From the time we entered the Greek market, this commitment towards excellence has also been introduced into the events and sporting initiatives that we support, whereby we add excitement and value, enriching the fan experience.
