Turning Stone Resort Casino and other Oneida Indian Nation businesses are gradually returning to normal operations following a cyberattack on Monday, November 2, that disrupted computer systems, payment services, ATMs, and telephone lines across the group’s properties.
Turning Stone announced Thursday that it had resumed accepting credit cards for food and beverage purchases, while guests could once again earn loyalty points at all its properties. TS Sports, the group’s sportsbook and betting lounge, and bingo operations were set to resume at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
The cyberattack affected several businesses operated by the Oneida Indian Nation, forcing Turning Stone Resort Casino, SavOn gas stations and Maple Leaf Markets to accept cash payments for several days.
Telephone services were also disrupted at the resort and the Oneida Indian Nation Health Center. Turning Stone brought in outside phones to maintain its ability to receive calls.
According to the casino, the cyberattack did not compromise confidential information. The Oneida Indian Nation has not disclosed who may have been responsible for the incident.
In a video posted on social media Thursday morning, a Turning Stone employee welcomed guests back and provided an update on the recovery process.
“It’s been an interesting few days. We’ve had some unexpected technology challenges, but we’re happy to tell you that we’re back. Our systems are coming back online, and we’re ready to welcome you,” the employee said.
The Oneida Indian Nation operates a portfolio of businesses under Turning Stone Enterprises, including several casinos, The Cove at Sylvan Beach, the Verona Collective cannabis operation and Oneida Technical Solutions, among others.
The organization employs more than 5,000 people and is the largest employer in Oneida and Madison counties.
The recovery follows a major expansion at Turning Stone, completed earlier this summer. The $400 million project included a new luxury hotel, a fine dining restaurant, and additional conference space, making it the largest meetings and conventions resort in New York State.
