DAZN Names Betting Industry Veteran Alex Gersh CFO Amid Leadership Shifts

Sports entertainment platform DAZN announced that it has named sports betting industry veteran Alex Gersh as its new chief financial officer. The new C-suite addition comes amid broader leadership changes at the group.

The Company Undergoes Leadership Shifts

According to the announcement, Gersh will replace Darren Waterman as the company’s CFO. At the same time, Waterman has been named chief business officer. The new CBO position recognizes Waterman’s talents, which allowed DAZN to become a profitable business.

As mentioned, Gersh is someone who is already very familiar with the sports sector, having previously worked for the likes of Sportradar and Betfair. Gersh is also no stranger to financial leadership positions, having previously served in senior roles at various companies. His track record includes, among other things, the Nasdaq listing of Sportradar.

As CFO of DAZN, Gersh will report directly to DAZN Group’s chief executive officer, Shay Segev.

In addition to naming Gersh CFO and giving Waterman a new role, DAZN also onboarded ex-Foxtel Group CEO Patrick Delany as chief operating officer. Delany and Waterman will report directly to Segev as well.

Additional leadership changes at the company include the upcoming departure of Alice Mascia, who spent 4 years leading the DACH segment, as well as the return of Felix Krause as DACH CEO.

The leadership changes highlight DAZN’s unwavering ambition and strife for business growth.

DAZN Explores Prediction Markets

2026 has seen DAZN try out new things. In January, DAZN formed a partnership with prediction markets giant Polymarket. This allowed DAZN to engage with prediction markets directly, and incorporate event contracts directly into its platform.

That was not the end of DAZN’s exploration of this emerging sector, however, as a few months later, the company also announced an exclusive global strategic partnership with ADI Predictstreet, FIFA’s first-ever official prediction market partner.

The arrangement’s goal was to leverage ADI Chain to develop and distribute regulated prediction market experiences for sports fans all over the world.

Back then, CEO Segev said that “Prediction markets are becoming one of the most exciting and rapidly growing forms of digital fan engagement.” He was pleased with the deal and noted that the United States will be a major focus of this partnership.
