Dane Takes Down Last 888poker RAKELESS Mystery Main Event of June

888poker Rakeless Mystery Main Event

The final $109 RAKELESS Mystery Main Event of June saw 852 players buy in at 888poker, and Denmark’s “kojgysto888” outlasted them all. With mystery bounty payments included, the champion took home $8,944 of the $100,000 prize pool.

After taking down last week’s event, 888poker’s Aaron “abarone68” Barone was back in the thick of it. Unfortunately for Barone and his many fans, he couldn’t repeat last week’s heroics, although he did finish in the money.

Malta-based grinder “BrmNit” was the tournament’s biggest winner despite busting in 34th place. This was because they opened a mystery bounty envelope containing the $10,000 jackpot bounty before they fell by the wayside.

The curtain came down on Day 1 when only eight players remained. Lithuania’s “sankovski” was the chip leader with 75 big blinds, while “BigFish20” brought up the rear with a 14-big-blind stack.

$100,000 RAKELESS Mystery Main Event Final Table Chip Counts

Rank Player Country Bounties Chip Count Big Blinds
1 sankovski Lithuania $906 3,365,843 75
2 The_Hoff_Man United Kingdom $443 2,321,825 52
3 xrriver Brazil $4,062 1,827,017 41
4 eko4gg Ukraine $1,066 1,467,205 33
5 kojgysto888 Denmark $121 1,249,099 28
6 Falcken13 Sweden $1,602 1,061,893 24
7 Vandangoz Brazil $340 838,891 19
8 BigFish20   $60 648,227 14

“Vandangoz,” one of two Brazilians at the final table, was the first player heading for the exits. “sankovski” min-raised under the gun with ace-queen and the action folded to “kojgysto888” on the button. They flat-called with pocket sevens, which put the action on “Vandangoz.” Looking down at pocket jack, they squeezed all-in for 15 big blinds, only for “xrriver” to wake up in the big blind with pocket kings!

“xrriver” moved all-in for 36 big blinds, the other active players ducked out of the way, and “Vandangoz” was drawing dead on the turn after “xrriver” flopped a set.

A steady flow of eliminations continued with “BigFish20” losing with queen-ten of clubs versus king-ten of diamonds in a button versus big blind confrontation.

Sweden’s “Falcken13” fell in sixth after being dealt ace-six in consecutive hands. The first time saw them shove five big blinds and win the pot uncontested. The second time saw them shove a shade over seven big blinds and lose to the king-queen of “xrriver.”

Fifth place went to “ek04gg” of Ukraine on the 50-minute mark. They three-bet shoved for 10 big blinds with pocket nines from the small blind after an under-the-gun open. “kojgysto888” four-bet all-in from the big blind with ace-queen, which folded out the initial raiser. A queen on the flop and an ace on the river left the final table with only four players.

Those four became three when “The_Hoff_Man” crashed out a few minutes after returning from a scheduled break. “xrriver” min-raised with pocket jacks before calling the all-in jam, worth 22 big blinds, from “The_Hoff_Man” made with ace-five of hearts in the big blind. A ten-high board further reduced the field.

Heads-up was reached when the start-of-day chip leader “sankovski” ran out of steam. They open-shoved 15 big blinds with pocket sixes from the small blind and lost a coin flip against “kojgysto888″‘s king-queen of diamonds in the big blind.

Brazil’s “xrriver” held a 74.6 to 52.3 big blind advantage over “kojgysto888” at the start of the one-on-one clash but a big pot right at the start of the clash went the way of “kojgysto888” and that gave the Dane a significant advantage.

The Dane couldn’t shake off their final opponent, but something final gave. “xrriver” moved all-in on the river with ten-eight of spades after missing their open-ended straight draw. “kojgysto888” quickly called having flopped trip sevens, and that, as they say, was that.
